Sept. 30, 2002 - Triconex, an operating unit of Invensys plc, today announced the appointment of Joseph G. Murray as manager of nuclear business development. Murray will lead the company's growing presence in the nuclear industry.
Murray brings nearly 25 years of nuclear power plant experience to Triconex, including assignments at the San Onofre, Braidwood, Palo Verde and Dresden generating stations in the U.S. His background includes shift supervision, project engineering management and lead engineering positions in controls, startup and maintenance.
Murray will report to Michael Phillips, vice president of business development.
"We are very pleased to have someone of Joe's caliber lead our efforts in the nuclear power industry," said Phillips. "His management background and hands-on experience with nuclear plant control systems will strengthen Triconex' prominent position even further."
Triconex supplies safety and control system solutions to the nuclear industry. With the extension in operating life of many nuclear plants, Triconex offers lower cost and lower maintenance digital technology replacements for legacy analog systems.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a Safety Evaluation Report earlier this year certifying the Triconex TRICON(R) Version 9, and all associated hardware and software, for use in 1E nuclear power plant instrument and control systems. TRICON is the first Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) technology to receive NRC certification for this application.
"We are confident Triconex technology can improve performance at all of the 103 operating nuclear plants in the U.S.," said Murray.
More than 5,000 TRICON systems are in use in a variety of industrial control applications worldwide, in markets such as gas and oil exploration, oil refining, power and energy production, pulp and paper manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, transportation, chemical processing and engineering construction.
Murray is a resident of Mission Viejo, Calif.
