Invensys Nuclear offers systems and engineering capabilities that provide the nuclear industry with a cost-effective, full scope solution for life extension. The group combines extensive nuclear industry experience, the only commercial off the shelf 1E certified safety system and a modern open system platform to give the nuclear utility the competitive edge.
Invensys is the only Safety, Control and Plant Computer Systems supplier in the US nuclear market that owns and supports their product and software platforms.
Proven Support
Compare us to our competition. A review of our nuclear product lines line will provide some insight into our commitment to product support.
Invensys has provided four platforms to the nuclear industry over the past fifty years.
H-Line was the earliest hardware for nuclear safety and control systems. First provided to US government reactors, H-Line quickly became the standard for nuclear controls. Plants in the US continue to use H-Line as their base system. Removed from sale in 1990, H-Line was supported by factory repair and refurbishment into 2000.
SPEC 200 is the most widely used safety and control system in the nuclear industry. First introduced in 1972, SPEC 200 was nuclear qualified in 1977. Since that time over 50,000 nuclear certified modules have been shipped to nuclear plants the world over. We continue to provide SPEC 200 to nuclear utilities and NSSS suppliers at a competitive price. We have recently received $5MM order from the NSSS supplier of a grass roots nuclear plant in Korea.
The I/A Series system was introduced in 1987 as the first industrial control system that would never need to be replaced. Based on industrial standards the I/A Series system has evolved with the technology to keep the platform current with evolving technology. Each generation is backward and forward compatible. Systems shipped to nuclear plants in the early 1990's are still operational and supported. Other plants have chosen to keep their systems current with hardware/software upgrades with no effect on the application.
TRICONEX provides the only NRC approved 1E COTS Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) Programmable Logic Controller on the market today. There are over 6000 Tricons installed in Mission Critical applications with over 260 millions of hours without failure on demand service. The qualification of the Tricon confirms the continuing commitment from Invensys to offer safety related and critical control system solutions to the nuclear industry. The TRICON received nuclear approval in December of 2001 with an SER from the US NRC based on EPRI TR-107330 and TR-102323. As the system evolves new modules are subjected to the same rigid qualification testing as approved in the SER.
Continued Support
Invensys has shipped safety and control systems to more than 150 nuclear plants. And because Invensys controls the design and manufacture of our platforms the future of these systems is assured.
The continued support of our installed base and the ongoing development of hardware and software products required to successfully implement and deliver digital I&C upgrade solutions exemplifies our commitment to the nuclear industry.
Only Invensys has the PLATFORMS, CAPABILITY, EXPERIENCE AND RESOURCES to fulfill all of your SAFETY, CONTROL, PLANT COMPUTER AND SIMULATOR system needs, now and throughout the extended life of your plant.
